Safety Update: Schools to Close For Two Weeks Effective March 16, 2020

Dear Lynwood/Roosevelt Family:

 

Lynwood Unified School District is committed to providing a safe, secure learning environment to all of our students and staff. After consulting with state and local leaders and public health officials, it has been recommended that the District close schools for a period of two weeks. Effective Monday, March 16, we will close all Lynwood Unified public schools for this two-week period while we evaluate the appropriate path forward.

During this time, the District will continue to provide instruction to our students through remote means.

Courses will be provided via Internet connection for students who have access; those who do not have access will receive written course materials and teams of teachers will work to review material and ensure no student falls behind during this time.

Additionally, we are working with our agencies to provide our families that may need support with child-care.

We are working to provide free and reduced-price meal programs where our families will be allowed to pick up and take-home meals from our school sites.

We also urge all students and families to continue to adhere to preventative measures, including those that urge limiting physical contact, not gathering in groups of 250 or more, covering coughs and sneezes, and regular handwashing for 20 seconds in soap and water.

Our goal is to return to regular instruction as quickly as possible to the benefit of our students and community. Thank you for your patience and trust as we grapple with these significant, community-wide issues.
